I replied earlier to this topic but couldn't help adding one experience. When my daughter was a little girl we went shopping to a well-known department store. As all mommies know you can't get on the escalator with a stroller; you have to take the elevator. Well, another mom and her stroller riding kid got into the elevator with us and she parked it next to the control panels and sure enough the kid started pushing buttons and set off the "in case of fire" or whatever button it was. That LOUD alarm went off and the elevator stopped. I don't know what what louder the siren or both of our kids screaming there heads off. Of course everything was fine and we got out alright but dear god---til this day I think of that when I get on an elevator!!

Bethel! Is there anyone who DID NOT long to visit Bethel
by purpleplus inbethel is the witness equivalent to mecca.
i never had a strong urge to go, unlike others in the borg.
its funny to hear people marvel at the speed of the printing presses there.

Even when my husband and I were in in pretty thick (elder& pioneer) the desire to go see Bethel was not there. If anything we would have spent the money on seeing NYC and sights around there!!!! Maybe that was a sign?

Hey Mr. Flipper!!
Just finished my dinner with the family and was going to reply to your other thread, but ya started a new thread and so I thought I would kill two birds with one stone. I am sorry to hear that your clients are not paying!!! That really stinks. My hubby and I own our business as well (like most JW's) and are treading water. People are paying but the phone is not ringing. It is alarming. But what can you do... Oh yeah that's right we can have the government bail us out just like what they are doing now for the Fannnie Mae and her twin Freddie Mac!!! Don't even get me started!!
So, am I happy? Depends on what day. I have a husband who loves me and his family but are being shunned big time by everyone else that I have held dear. Part of the journey. Sorry to hear that your daughters are not in contact with you. That has got to hurt. I have read some of your posts in the past, don't you have a son? Were you the guys that took pictures of bigfoot prints? I thought that was very interesting.
Anyway, the weather is awesome and my garden is doing great!!! This cat will stop yapping now--have a wonderful evening

Where To Go For 10th Wedding Anniversary?
by sweet pea inbesty and i will be celebrating our 10th anniversary in september of this year.
we would like to do a week or weekend somewhere special and as we currently reside in la, we are considering hawaii, mexico or a city like san francisco.
we will probably be taking the podlets along with us so they are a consideration too.

Hi sweetpea,
Congrats on your 10th!!! Can I ask how old your podlets are? The reason I ask is that if you decide on Mexico the medical care isn't that great. I don't mean to sound like Dr. Doom--I was a worry wart with my kids. There are great deals in Mexico though. Hawaii is beautiful!!! You can rent a condo with all the perks of home which is great when you have kids--having a washing machine is great!!! If you stay at a resort they offer babysitter services and little crafty classes during the day so Mom and Dad can have some "alone" time. It is very romantic. San Fran is fun too. There is a restaurant on Fishermans Warf called the Rainforest Cafe. My kids loved that place when they were younger....
Don't think this helped much huh?

Whatever happened to WTH?----that seems to work for me!!

Just saw this topic!!!
I have two teenagers and have always tried to keep up with what was the latest trend. I have also thought that I was a "cool" mom but lately it has come to my attention that I'm not. Do any of you know what an emo is? My daughter informed me that it's kids that are sorta like goth and are very dark. I had been calling them emu. Real cool mom huh? Another term I just figured out is "My bad". Where's the geritol and metamucil?.....

Wedding Talks
by Alexia ina few weeks ago, there was a thread started on jw funeral talks and how horrible they are, but what about those wedding talks?.
talks that has nothing to do with the couple itself, but an advertisement about how wonderful marriage in jehovahs organization is.
*eye roll * the worst is when they have to bring up sex in the marriage in a wedding talk *barf*.

The wedding talks are very generic. There was an article in the Watchtower (don't remember when) that actually had an outline or "format" of what should be said. Maybe somebody has a scan of it? All my literature are in boxes!!
The bride and groom have to be baptised and be in approved standing. When we got married we were told that everyone in the bridal party had to be in approved standing also. I don't know if this was a local thing or what but I never saw it in writing. I have noticed lately many couples are getting married at parks or reception halls, even fancy hotels. The wedding talks that are given at these places are more personal and lively. Wedding talks at the hall are more serious and downright dismal.... (The kingdom hall is an ugly place for a wedding anyway)
